Mustangs season comes to a close in SUNYAC semis

CORTLAND, N.Y. – Third seeded SUNY Morrisville volleyball saw their season come to a close Friday night as they fell in five sets to second seeded Buffalo State in the semifinal round of the SUNYAC Championship Tournament, hosted by Cortland.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Third seeded SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball closed out the 2024 season campaign Friday night, falling in the SUNYAC semifinals to second seeded Buffalo State by a match final 3-2 at top seeded Cortland.
  • Morrisville held a two set lead over the Bengals before Buffalo State clawed their way back into the contest, edging the Mustang sin the fifth and decisive set to move on.
  • Senior Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) led the Mustang efforts with 34 total kills across the match action, adding three aces and three assisted blocks, while collecting a total 17 digs.
  • Fellow senior Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added 11 kills and four digs, with freshman Samantha Siedlecki (Thorton, Colo.) contributing 10 kills to go along with five blocks for the Mustangs.
  • Kylie Hutchinson (Liberty Hill, Tex.), Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) and Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) each put forth a double digit effort defensively, recording 10 digs apiece, Sheasby with 13.
  • Mikayla Martinez (Tucson, Ariz.) also added 11 on the defensive side of the ball.
  • Bellmore put up a collegiate high 54 assists in the match, adding four service aces and three assisted blocks to her totals.
