Second period stalls Morrisville women in SUNYAC loss

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Oswego State scored four times in the second period of Friday afternoon's State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) women's hockey action at SUNY Morrisville, handing the Mustangs a 6-2 league loss on their home ice in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Oswego collected four tallies in the second period of Friday afternoon's SUNYAC action in Morrisville, handing the Morrisville Mustangs their first loss of the 2024 season with the 6-2 league victory.
  • Oswego opened the scoring at the 4:55 mark of the first period with an unassisted power play goal from Mack Hull.
  • Morrisville responded nearly five minutes later as Allicen Bouchard (Rockford, Ill.) knocked in the chip from Tilly Couture (Bedford, N.S.) to even the contest at one.
  • Oswego shifted the tables in the second period, scoring their first of our 5:39 in, before Mack collected back-to-back tallies to give the Lakers the 4-1 lead.
  • Hill connected with Meagan Smith at the 17:13 mark to extend the lead to four goals after the second period for Oswego.
  • A sixth tally came late in the final period as Oswego claimed the 6-1 lead, but Morrisville would add one final score, a one-timer from Kate Mabey (Guelph, Ont.) off the Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.) assist.
  • Elizabeth Timby (Getzville, N.Y.) recorded 26 saves in the loss in net for Morrisville in the first two periods of play, before Sydney Canham (Rochester, N.Y.) appeared for the final frame, registering 16 stops in the third.
