Hawks use dominating first half to get past Morrisville women

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting SUNY New Paltz women's soccer scored six first half goals Wednesday afternoon en route to a 7-0 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win over host SUNY Morrisville on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY New Paltz women's soccer posted their first tally of the afternoon just 3:05 into the contest and didn't look back as they posted the 7-0 SUNYAC win over host Morrisville on Drake Field.
  • The Hawks collected three scores within the first 11 minutes of action, adding three more before the close of the half to take the 6-0 lead into the break.
  • Morrisville was able to hold New Paltz to just one score in the second half, before dropping the league contest.
  • The Mustangs best offensive look came in the second half as Callie LaFontaine (Chaumont, N.Y.) had a breakaway down the center of the field and was able to fire one at the goal, but Madelyn Jachimiak came out to challenge and knocked the ball wide of the right post to prevent the score.
  • Jachimiak finished with one save in the contest, replacing starter Jess Centeri after the first half.
  • Kayle Roberts (Deansboro, N.Y.) recorded the loss for the Mustangs in net, saving seven.
  • New Paltz held the 14-1 advantage in shots on goal, and 12-3 lead in corner kicks on the afternoon.

  • Morrisville will take on Oneonta on the road Saturday with a 1 p.m. kickoff in Oneonta.
