Mustangs comeback attempt falls short in 3-2 loss to New Paltz

NEW PALTZ, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's soccer team rallied late in the contest but ran out of clock as host SUNY New Paltz posted the 3-2 State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) win in New Paltz Wednesday afternoon.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville men's soccer rallied late in the second half in a comeback attempt but fell short on time as New Paltz collected the 3-2 SUNYAC win Wednesday in New Paltz.
  • New Paltz took an early 1-0 lead netting the unassisted tally just over two minutes in.
  • Morrisville had a few good looks at the net and were finally able to break through the New Paltz defense, netting the equalizer at the 39:23 mark off the foot of Musab Kamaldeen (Bronx, N.Y.) who collected his second of the season.
  • New Paltz regained the lead in the 61st minute with the one-timer off the left cross and extended it to two goals in the 81st minute with a second unassisted score of the day.
  • Morrisville, just over a minute later, put their second in the net as Jesse Otu (Bronx, N.Y.) collected his first collegiate tally to make it a one goal game.
  • The Mustangs had one final attempt in the final minute of regulation, but the bottom center shot was turned aside from Hawks goalkeeper Christian Micheli.
  • Micheli collected three saves in the win for New Paltz.
  • Ronaldo Fatolou (New York, N.Y.) posted 10 stops, including seven in the second half of action, in the loss.

  • Morrisville returns to the pitch Saturday, hosting SUNY Oneonta at 4:30 p.m. on Drake Field in Morrisville.
