Mustangs boost SUNYAC win total to six with match victory over New Paltz

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team posted a 3-1 match win over visiting SUNY New Paltz Saturday afternoon, boosting their league record to 6-0 overall.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team improved to 6-0 overall in SUNYAC action Saturday afternoon, topping visiting SUNY New Paltz 3-1 in league play in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville opened with a dominating set one win behind a .450 hitting effort, before extending the match lead to 2-0 with a 25-17 win in the second set.
  • New Paltz was able to utilize a strong third set to edge the Mustangs 25-22 in the third, before the hosts rallied in the fourth set to put the match away with a 25-20 victory.
  • Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) led the Mustangs with 24 kills, hitting a stellar .500 from the floor across the match, while adding two assists and three aces to her tallies, and contributing defensively with 10 digs.
  • Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added seven kills to go along with 33 assists coming off the setting of Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.).
  • Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) collected 22 digs for the Mustangs to lead the defensive efforts, with freshman Kylie Hutchinson (Liberty Hill, Tex.) adding another 10.
  • Jamie Albrecht led New Paltz with 15 kills, collecting 14 digs, while Elena Savage put up 28 assists across the match.
  • Jordyn Lewis had 11 digs in the defensive efforts for the Hawks.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will return to the court next Friday, traveling to Buffalo State who currently holds a 5-0 record in SUNYAC play.
  • The Mustangs will also see Fredonia on Saturday, before wrapping up the regular season Tuesday, Oct. 29 against Cortland on Morrisville's home court.
