Huppee's record setting night leads Morrisville to win over Oneonta

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Senior outside hitter Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) became the all-time leader in program history in kills Friday night, throwing down a match total 19 to lead host SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball to a 3-0 match win over visiting Oneonta on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball remained undefeated in State University of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) as they handed visiting Oneonta a 3-0 match loss behind a record setting night from senior outside hitter Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.).
  • Huppee needed just three kills in the match to take over the all-time top spot in program history, accomplishing the all-time feat in the opening set to become the leader at 1,575 kills.
  • Huppee went on to add 16 more to her totals on the night, leading the Mustangs with a game total 19, as they captured the match sweep with set wins of 25-22, 25-20 and 25-21.
  • Huppee also served up two aces and collected 16 digs, while fellow senior Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added eight kills.
  • Cassandra Bellmore (Windsor, N.Y.) put up 22 assists and had five digs, while teammate Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) registered 31 digs to go along with five assists.
  • Oneonta battled back from a five-point deficit in the opening set to tie the contest at 19 and a serve later took the 21-20 lead, but Huppee shot one to the floor and Kylie Hutchinson (Liberty Hill, Tex.) added an ace, to regain the lead for the hosts.
  • Huppee and Adeline Houser (Camden, N.Y.) extended the lead to two with the assisted blocks at the net, before Huppee added another kill to her totals alongside one from Bellmore to give the Mustangs the 25-22 set one win.
  • After claiming a 25-20 win in set two, Morrisville jumped out to a 9-2 lead in the third, before Oneonta rallied to make it a two-point set midway through.
  • Morrisville regained a five-point advantage, before Oneonta once again made a push to cut the deficit to one, but Olson recorded back-to-back kills to put the hosts ahead 22-18.
  • The Red Dragons cut the lead to one, 22-21, but Morrisville took advantage of two hitting errors and Sheasby served up an ace to secure the win for the hosts, keeping them undefeated in league action with a 5-0 overall slate.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will take on New Paltz Saturday afternoon on the Mustangs home court. Opening serve is scheduled for 4:30 p.m. in Morrisville.
  • New Paltz enters the contest with a 2-2 overall record, falling to Cortland 3-0 in match action Friday.
