MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville field hockey squad took to the field Wednesday afternoon in a heated match against visiting Keuka College, and despite the persistent attack on the cage, was unable to break through the Wolves defense, falling 7-0 in non-conference play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Host SUNY Morrisville field hockey fell behind by two after the opening quarter of play Wednesday afternoon on Drake Field, and failed to muster a response to the Keuka defense as the visitors collected a 7-0 non-conference win in Morrisville.
• The Mustangs had the chance to take the lead early, having been awarded a penalty stroke for a Keuka defensive foul, but the shot attempt missed just outside the post and kept the hosts off the board.
• Morrisville again had another scoring attempt, but the shot was turned away by Keuka keeper Jordan Nichols.
• Keuka rallied 12 minutes in with a shot from the middle of the circle before adding another minutes later for the 2-0 lead off the deflected shot from the top of the circle.
• Two tallies in less than a minutes time for the visitors in the second quarter saw the Mustangs trail 4-0 at the break.
• Despite a defensive effort in the second half, Morrisville was unable to find the back of the net, falling 7-0 in the non-league matchup.
• Jenna Gutierrez (Syracuse, N.Y.) recorded the loss for the Mustangs, putting forward a nine save effort.
