Morrisville dominates Express in United East win

AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team posted a 23-3 United East victory Saturday night, downing host Wells College in league action on the road in Aurora.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse posted an all around team win Saturday night on the road at Wells College, netting a 23-3 United East win as seven collected goals on the night for the Mustangs.
  • Morrisville outshot the hosts 34-8 in shots on goal, converting 4-of-8 free position shots, while dominating the draw, 20-7.
  • Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) and Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) each posted six goals to lead the Mustang efforts, McDonald adding three assists while Ringgold posted a career high eight points with her two assists.
  • Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.) added four tallies and an assist, while Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) registered a hat trick with her three goals.
  • Mikayla Zotta (Schenectady, N.Y.) scored twice while assisting one, as teammate Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) posted a three-point outing with her one goal and two assists.
  • Keeley Riley (Dexter, N.Y.) rounded out goal scorers with one, while Ashley Hellinger (Mexico, N.Y.) registered an assist.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) picked up the win in net, stopping four in the first half of play, before Maggie Jones (Marystown, N.L.) backstopped the second half, collecting one save.
  • McDonald set the tone for the Mustangs early, netting the first score of the night a mere seven seconds into the contest, before the Mustangs rattled off 10 straight for the commanding lead seconds into the second quarter.
  • Wells broke up the Mustang scoring with one at the 10:41 mark, but Morrisville's offense proved too much for the hosts as they posted three straight, before closing out the contest with a 10 goal run.

  • Morrisville returns to the field Wednesday at the University of Rochester for a 4 p.m. non-conference bout in Rochester.
