WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse controlled the tempo of the game from the opening whistle and didn't look back as they posted a 25-2 United East win over visiting Lancaster Bible College on Drake Field in Morrisville, on Senior Day.
  • The win comes on the heels of a historical first for the Mustangs, as two seniors collected their 100th collegiate goal in the same contest, a never before captured feat in the Mustang Valley.
  • Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) rattled off three first quarter tallies before adding two in the second, including her 100th at the 1:45 mark to put the Mustangs ahead 15-0.
  • With 5:50 to go in the contest, fellow senior Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) put away her 100th, joining the elite list of goal scorers from across Mustang history to collect the career total.
  • Morrisville, who outshot Lancaster 37-5 in shots on goal across the afternoon also had another senior pull closer to a milestone mark on the day.
  • Midfielder Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) put six in the back of the net to bring her career point total to 89, 11 within reach of 100 with three games remaining in the season.
  • Morrisville won the opening draw with freshman Cara Walker (Phelps, N.Y.) snagging the ball out of the air and racing downfield for a Mustang score a mere 12 seconds in, before McDonald collected her first of the afternoon moments later to put the hosts ahead 2-0.
  • Baum rattled off two straight within 16 seconds time, before Treadway got in on the action 18 ticks later with her first of the day.
  • Walker added a second at 10:49 to put the Mustangs ahead 6-0, before Baum registered her third for a hat trick midway through the quarter.
  • Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) added her 18th of the season, before McDonald buried two straight to put the hosts ahead 10-0 after the opening quarter.
  • Morrisville built up a 16-0 lead at the break, allowing just one shot on goal in the first half for the Chargers, while forcing 15 Lancaster miscues in the opening half.
  • The halftime lead proved too much for the Chargers to overcome as Morrisville picked up where they left off in the first half, collecting the 25-2 league win.
  • Ringgold finished with three tallies on the day, adding three ground balls, while Walker added three of her own, also assisting one.
  • Walker dominated the center circle, winning 14 draws, while collecting four ground balls and causing two turnovers.
  • Jaele Naab (Buffalo, N.Y.) also posted a goal on the day to contribute to the win, alongside Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.) and Ashley Hellinger (Mexico, N.Y.).
  • The story, though, came from the senior class who combined for 16 goals, five assists, nine ground balls, four caused turnovers and four draws.
  • Treadway posted three goals and collected two ground balls, while McDonald posted six tallies, her fourth game this season of six or more points.
  • Baum paved the way with 12 points, matching her single game high set in 2021, netting seven goals and assisting another five.
  • Her seven tallies were a collegiate best for the senior.
  • Rebecca Thomas (Marcy, N.Y.) registered the win in net, turning away one, before Maggie Jones (Marystown, N.L.) finished the final thirty with her two stops.
  • Prior to the contest, Morrisville honored additional seniors Dominique Johnson (Fulton, N.Y.), Karrigan Gregory (Auburn, N.Y.) and Camberly VanValkenburg (Walton, N.Y.).
  • Johnson posted three ground balls and a caused turnover in the contest, while Gregory and VanValkenburg shut down the Charger attacking unit.

WHAT'S NEXT:

  • Morrisville will return to the field next Saturday, heading to Pittsburgh where they will face LaRoche University for a 12 p.m. United East game.
