Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) leading the way with a team high seven goals for the Mustangs on Drake Field in Morrisville.

- Junior attackman Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) led the host SUNY Morrisville Mustangs men's lacrosse team with seven goals Saturday afternoon as they toppled visiting Penn College in the United East opener for the hosts by a 18-13 final score in Morrisville.
- Penn College had no answer for the Mustangs in the opening quarter as they rattled off seven goals for the 7-2 first quarter advantage.
- Morrisville outgained the Wildcats in the second 5-4, doubling up Penn College 12-6 at the break, before rattling off five more in the third to set back the visitors 17-7.
- Penn was able to break through in the fourth for six tallies, but it wasn't enough as Morrisville collected the 18-13 victory.
- Patriarco collected seven goals on 10 shots, adding three ground balls to his totals while five teammates added to the victory with tallies.
- Luke Strong (Rochester, N.Y.) collected five goals and added two assists, while fellow attackman Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) posted the hat trick with three scores, assisting another six for nine points.
- Dean Mohammed (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) collected three points on his two goals and an assist, while James Graizzaro (Hillside, N.J.) also collected a three-point afternoon with his goal and two assists.
- Dylan Laplace (Chester, Conn.) recorded 12 saves in the win for the Mustangs, adding two caused turnovers on interceptions while collecting five ground balls.
- Nathan Weise (Rochester, N.Y.) saw time in net for the final 2:38 of the contest, collecting five stops.
- Morrisville edged Penn College in the ground ball game, 46-35, with Michael Avgenikos (Cazenovia, N.Y.) picking up six after winning 17-of-29 faceoff attempts.
- Kyle Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) also picked up six, with fellow defenseman Zack Mabry (Suffern, N.Y.) posting a team high three caused turnovers.
- Morrisville scored the first three of the contest before Penn was able to put one on the board, the first coming off the stick of Patriarco who buried the dish from Avgenikos.
- Mohammed added a second minutes later as Strong connected with the attackman on the outside, before Strong netted one of his own with the rifle off the cross field dish from Ethan Hicks (Dryden, N.Y.).
- Following a Wildcat score, Morrisville posted back-to-back scores, Strong off the feed from Nestor, before a second from Patriarco moments later.
- Sam Hills collected a second score for Penn at 3:14, but Morrisville's Strong and Patriarco posted hat tricks with a third tally each to close out the opening quarter with a 7-2 host lead.
- Morrisville opened the contest to an 11-2 advantage with Strong and Patriarco adding to their totals with two more goals each, before Penn notched back-to-back goals within two minutes time.
- Nestor collected the man-down score, his first of the day, but in a last half effort, Penn was able to sneak in two to trail 12-6 at the break.
- Morrisville opened the gap to 10 after a five goal third quarter, with Nestor posting two straight within 31 seconds, before Mohammed, Patriarco and Graizzaro each added to the host lead.
- Morrisville's final score of the afternoon came early in the fourth as Patriarco collected his seventh of the day, burying the snipe off the feed from Nestor.
- Penn closed out the contest with six straight scores, cutting the deficit to five, but ran out of time as Morrisville posted the win.
WHAT'S NEXT:
- Morrisville will return to the field Tuesday, hosting Marywood University in a rescheduled match at 4 p.m., before meeting St. Mary's College on the 15th in Maryland.
