Smith leads Morrisville men in loss against Lancaster

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Senior Tron Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) collected a team high 15 points Friday night in the efforts against Lancaster Bible College, but it wasn't enough as the SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team fell 91-79 to the visiting Chargers in United East play in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting and league leading Lancaster Bible College poured in 52 first half points Friday night and were able to withstand a second half Mustang push, collecting the 91-79 United East win on the SUNY Morrisville home court in Morrisville.
  • Senior Tron Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 15 points, adding four rebounds and two assists, while point guard Shykell Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) contributed 14 to the Morrisville efforts, to go along with five rebounds and six assists.
  • Brandon Kulakowski (Brewerton, N.Y.) chipped in 11 and added seven rebounds.
  • Morrisville was unable to stop a hot shooting Charger squad in the first half and despite a persistent effort in the paint, trailed 52-38 at the break.
  • Lancaster built up a 27-point lead in the second before Morrisville chipped away and cut into the lead late, but the Mustangs ran out of time as the Chargers posted the win.
  • Morrisville put together a 14-6 run over the final five minutes of the game, outscoring Lancaster 41-39 in the second half.
  • The Chargers shot 48.5% from the floor on the night, including a 45.8% effort from behind the arc, while Morrisville put together a 50% effort tin the second half to finish 40.9% across the contest.
  • Twenty-nine of the Mustangs points came in play off the bench, including three-points each from Sam Wooding (Flushing, N.Y.) and Andy Exume (Brooklyn, N.Y.).
