WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville collected a thrilling 3-2 overtime win over visiting SUNY Canton men's hockey Friday night in non-conference action in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville put the first of the night on the board midway through the opening period as Logan Robins (Livonia, Mich.) added his second collegiate tally, cleaning up the loose puck on the crease.
  • The initial shot came from defenseman Domenic Della Civita (Trenton, N.Y.) on the left blue, after receiving the puck from Ethan Henry (Buffalo, N.Y.).
  • Both were credited with the assists.
  • Morrisville added to their lead 8:32 into the second with a rebound score off the stick of Cameron Clark (Daytona Beach, Fla.) who backhanded the tally off the chip from Trevor Grasby (Holland Landing, Ont.).
  • Curtis Abbott (Belmont, Ont.) had the second assist on the Mustang goal.
  • Canton pulled within one early in the third, netting a power play score 3:44 in.
  • Morrisville maintained the edge until the 16:26 mark when Canton was able to put the game tying tally over the glove of Ryan Creenan (Colonia, N.J.) on a two-on-goalie breakaway after the completion of the Roo penalty.
  • Morrisville had a handful of chances in the closing minutes of the contest but were kept off the board for the extra period.
  • In overtime, Canton won the ensuing faceoff and found an open look, but it was turned aside by Creenan giving the hosts possession.
  • Morrisville's Clark collected the puck and skated the length of the ice to find an open shot.
  • Clark collected his own rebound and chipped the puck to Abbott who wrapped around the back of the net to slide the game winner under the pad of Kelson Hooper on the left post 1:15 into the sudden victory overtime frame.
  • Creenan finished with 34 saves in the win for the Mustangs.
  • Hooper collected 33 as the teams played nearly even throughout the contest.
