Morrisville stumbles in third as Oswego walks away with win

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's ice hockey team dropped an 8-2 SUNYAC decision Wednesday night to visiting nationally ranked no. 7 Oswego State, allowing four unanswered tallies in the third in league action in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Nationally ranked no. 7 Oswego State scored four times in the third period Wednesday night to capture an 8-2 decision over the host SUNY Morrisville Mustangs in Morrisville.
  • The Lakers captured back-to-back tallies in the first period to take an early 2-0 lead, netting the first score on a power play 5:30 in, before adding to their total with a second goal from Shane Bull at 7:21.
  • Just over a minute into the second period, Oswego added to their lead with a score from Daniel Colabufo, before Trevor Neumann (Burlington, Ont.) collected his first of the season, beating the Laker netminder in the top left corner to put the Mustangs on the board.
  • Morrisville's Khaden Henry (Whitby, Ont.) picked up his first collegiate score at 12:04 off the assist from Jacob Black (Fergus, Ont.), cutting the Oswego lead to one, but Oswego regained the two-goal lead minutes later to send the game into the third with a 4-2 Laker lead.
  • The visitors added to their total just 34 ticks into the final period, before collecting three additional scores over four minutes time, two on the power play, to capture the SUNYAC win.
  • Cal Schell collected nine saves in the win for the Lakers, appearing for 38 minutes, before Brandon Milberg took over for the final 22, saving nine.
  • Garrett Boyonoski (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) recorded a collegiate high 63 saves in the efforts for the Mustangs in net, 23 in the final period of play.
