Mustangs Fall Short Against Cardinals



Morrisville, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's soccer team battled against undefeated SUNY Plattsburgh on Wednesday night.  The Cardinals picked up the win as they would score in the games 51st minute to take the lead and pick up the 1-0 win over the Mustangs.

  • Location: Drake Field, Morrisville, N.Y.
  • Records: Morrisville 3-7-2, Plattsburgh 6-0-4
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The first half was a back-and-forth battle as both teams stood strong on defense to keep the game at 0-0 going into halftime.  In the first half the Cardinals would have the advantage in shots as they finished 4 shots while the Mustangs finished with 3 shots.
  • The Cardinals would score the games only goal in the games 51st minute as John Hayes would send a pass through the box to Danny Perry who would chip the ball just past a charging keeper.
  • Plattsburgh would have an advantage in corner kicks as they would finish with 6 while the Mustangs only committed one corner kick.
  • Caleb Lucero (Syracuse, N.Y.) played 90 minutes in goal for the Mustangs as he finished with 3 saves.
  • Javier Duarte (New Rochelle, N.Y.) and Jonathan Hernandez (Spring Valley, N.Y.) each finished with one shot on goal for the Mustangs.
  • Mohamed Sy (New York, N.Y.) and Josh Lawniczak (Avon Lake, OH) played a strong game in the middle for the Mustangs as their physical play would put the Morrisville is strong positions on offense.
