Volleyball nets fifth straight win with 3-1 victory over Canton

CANTON, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team recorded their fifth straight victory Saturday afternoon, collecting the 3-1 North Atlantic Conference (NAC) match win over host SUNY Canton in Canton.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville volleyball posted their fifth straight victory Saturday afternoon as they defeated host SUNY Canton 3-1 in the match behind set scores of 23-25, 25-13, 25-13, 25-16.
  • Morrisville out gained the Roos 49-27 in kills, including a 68-39 effort in points, 20 kills coming off the arm of Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) who had 20 across the match.
  • Huppee also added 12 digs and two blocks to her totals to go along with 14 kills from Keelin Baker (Vestal, N.Y.).
  • Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) added eight kills to go with her two service aces, also boasting 15 digs defensively for the Mustangs.
  • Hannah Taylor (Goshen, N.Y.) put up 21 assists and Samantha Mehler (Cumming, Ga.) another 14, while Morrisville got six from Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) that added to her three-service ace and 21 dig performance.
  • Canton took the first set from the Mustangs, rallying from behind with seven straight points, but Morrisville got back on track in set two, out hitting the hosts .353 to .094 from the floor as they dominated the second 25-13.
  • Morrisville held the 2-1 match advantage after three, and put the game away in the fourth with six kills from Baker.

  • Morrisville returns to the court Tuesday, traveling to St. John Fisher for a final non-conference match of the season before hosting SUNY Cobleskill and SUNY Poly on Saturday in another NAC tri-match.
