Doorley's 19 leads Morrisville to league win over Wells

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Freshman Tayghan Doorley (Hornell, N.Y.) collected a season high 19 points off the bench for the visiting Mustangs, leading SUNY Morrisville to a 92-28 United East win over host Wells College Wednesday evening in Aurora.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • An all-around team show, SUNY Morrisville had a total six collect double figures Wednesday evening, including freshman Tayghan Doorley (Hornell, N.Y.) who posted a team and season high 19, in a United East matchup with host Wells College in Aurora.
  • Doorley went 7-for-11 from the floor, including a 5-for-7 dagger from beyond the arc, nearly missing a double-double as she snagged nine boards and added three steals to her totals to lead the Mustangs.
  • Teammate Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, N.Y.) added 15 to go along with three assists and five steals, while Josely Medina (Florida, N.Y.) notched 14 behind her four three's.
  • Mosely also added six rebounds and five steals, with Delimar Vega-Haley (Worcester, N.Y.) chipping in 11 points and grabbing five off the glass.
  • Brooke Hammersley (Weedsport, N.Y.) added 13 points, nine rebounds, six assists and three steals, while Cara Walker (Phelps, N.Y.) wrapped up the leaderboard with her double-double outing.
  • Walker posted 10 points and snagged 11 boards, also assisting six and stealing three.
  • Morrisville dominated all facets of the contest from the opening whistle on, netting the game's first 13 points before the hosts were able to get on the board.
  • The Mustangs raced out to a 25-7 first quarter lead, adding a season best 32 points in the second as they maintained a significant lead with their 57-14 halftime advantage.
  • Morrisville limited Wells to a 17.9% shooting effort from the floor while hitting 48.1% of their own, including 11 from downtown, and also controlled the glass, out-rebounding Wells 57-33.
  • Morrisville collected 38 points off Express miscues and dominated the paint 52-10 behind their fast break game.

  • Morrisville will head to Penn College on Saturday to wrap up the week's action, returning to their home court Tuesday as they host Penn St. Berks.
