Morrisville goes distance in 3-2 match win over Misericordia

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team outlasted visiting Misericordia University Saturday morning in thrilling match action, claiming the 3-2 win in Morrisville on the second day of tournament play for the Mustangs.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville captured a 3-2 match win Saturday morning in thrilling fashion, taking visiting Misericordia to the fifth set where the Mustangs took the win with a 15-13 set finale.
  • Morrisville, who improves to 3-0 on the season, hit .321 from the floor behind 52 total kills, including 17 that came in the fourth set of play.
  • In the tightly contested match, the Mustangs had a big defensive game, collecting 10 blocks at the night, while registering 72 total digs. Kathryn Dolan (Quincy, Calif.) paved the way with two solo and four assisted blocks.
  • Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) had a big game for the hosts, throwing down 20 kills as she hit .429 from the floor in the batch, while teammate Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) added 13 and Keelin Baker (Vestal, N.Y.) 11 at the net.
  • Baker also added a solo and four assisted stops at the net.
  • Hannah Taylor (Goshen, N.Y.) collected 26 assists and Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) another 18 for the Mustangs, while Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) added five assists to go along with her four service aces.
  • Sheasby put up big numbers for Morrisville defensively, registering 26 digs, while Gates added 18.
  • Misericordia, who battled to the final point, had double digit efforts from Faith Merritt and Fiona Pyfer who collected 13 kills apiece across the contest, with another 11 coming from Sophie Winter.
  • Jenna Schuda had 45 assists, while Jessica Cleveland collected 18 digs for the Cougars.
