Mustangs open up conference play with dominating 7-0 win over Gallaudet

WASHINGTON, D.C. – The SUNY Morrisville Women's Soccer team opened up United East conference play on Saturday afternoon, beating the Bison of Gallaudet University in dominating fashion by a final score of 7-0. Five separate players registered goals for the Mustangs, including two goals apiece from Jozlen Dolan (Baldwinsville, N.Y.) and Jenny DeJung (Hogansburg, N.Y.).

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs wasted no time getting on the board when Dolan notched her first goal of the contest, ripping a high shot over the Bison goalie's head in the 9th minute of action. Laura Bedell (New Hartford, N.Y.) was credited with the assist on the play.
  • Less than a minute later, Tiffany Dicenzo (Rocheter, N.Y.) posted her first goal of the season on a high shot to the right corner, finding the back of the net to put the Mustangs up 2-0. The assist was given to sophomore forward, Brianne Barnes (Waterville, N.Y.).
  • Newcomer, Jenny DeJung scored the next two goals, both unassisted, to give the Mustangs a 4-0 lead to close out the first half.
  • It was more of the same for the Mustang offense in the second half. Sophomore defender, Kailee Marciano registered an unassisted goal in the 56' minute, collecting a loose ball in front of the net.
  • Angelina Rinaldi (Huntington Station, N.Y.) tallied her third goal of the season on a long shot, just past the right post to put the Mustangs up 6-0.
  • Just as she got things rolling for the visitors, Dolan rounded out the scoring for Morrisville in the 87' minute of action with her second goal of the game.
  • SUNY Morrisville swept the score sheet, totaling 52 shots, with 34 on goal, and registered nine corner kicks to Gallaudet's zero on the afternoon.
  • Gallaudet's Payton DeGraw tied a career-high 25 saves in the loss.

  • Women's soccer continues the southern swing with another United East Conference match up tomorrow afternoon, taking on St. Mary's College of Maryland at 12:00pm.
