Morrisville women roll to United East win

Box Score Pittsburgh, Pa. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team cruised to a United East win Friday afternoon as they downed host LaRoche University by a 18-5 league final in Pittsburgh, Pa.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse dominated the opening quarter of Friday afternoon's United East outing in Pittsburgh and didn't look back as they cruised to a 18-5 league victory over the host LaRoche Redhawks.
  • Eight different Mustangs contributed to the team win, including Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) who collected a team high nine points with four goals and five assists. Baum also collected a team best six ground balls and four draw controls.
  • Senior Makenzi Santini (Fairport, N.Y.) added a season best six goals to go along with two assists and two ground balls.
  • Alexa Ringgold (Bellport, N.Y.) added a pair of scores, as did Jillian Dodge (Jamesville, N.Y.), with Ringgold collecting four ground balls in addition to her scoring tallies.
  • Keeley Riley (Dexter, N.Y.) scored one and assisted another, while teammates Mikayla Zotta (Schenectady, N.Y.), Dominique Johnson (Fulton, N.Y) and Sarah Lutz (Parker, Colo.) each added one of their own.
  • Laura Lorraine (Hamilton, N.Y.) picked up six saves in the win in net.
  • Baum got the Mustangs rolling minutes into the opening frame with her first of the day's action, an unassisted score at the 11:26 mark, before LaRoche was able to respond with one of their own less than a minute later to tie the contest at one.
  • It was all Morrisville after that point, though, as the visitors went on a 9-0 scoring run that carried into the second quarter for a 10-1 Mustang lead.
  • After LaRoche was able to add a second tally, the Mustangs closed out the half with the 10-goal advantage, netting two more scores.
  • The Mustangs notched three tallies each in the third and fourth quarters of play, as they earned the league win.

  • Morrisville will return to the field Saturday at Mount Aloysius for a 12 p.m. league outing.
