Three net hat tricks in Mustang win over New Paltz

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team had three post hat tricks in Wednesday afternoons non-conference match with visiting SUNY New Paltz, leading the hosts to the 14-9 win on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville had six net scores Wednesday afternoon, including three with hat trick performances, as they powered past visiting SUNY New Paltz by a 14-9 final score on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with three tallies, adding an assist for a four-point performance, while also collecting three ground ball pickups on the day.
  • Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) and Savion Williams (Peekskill, N.Y.) each posted a hat trick outing as well, netting three goals apiece.
  • Luke Strong (Rochester, N.Y.) added two scores to go along with an assist and three ground balls, adding to the Mustang totals, while Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) posted two scores as well.
  • Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) rounded out the Mustang goal scorers with one of his own, while assisting another.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) collected the win in net, registering 10 saves between the pipes for the hosts.
  • Morrisville, who limited the Hawks to 19 shots on goal, held the 42-34 edge in ground balls on the day, with defender Zack Mabry (Suffern, N.Y.) collecting a team high eight, while also causing five turnovers.
  • Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.) added five pick ups while collecting 15 wins at the center x.
  • New Paltz scored twice in the opening minute of the contest before the Mustangs put together a three-goal rally kicked off by a Patriarco unassisted tally two minutes in.
  • Williams posted his first of the night to even the contest at two with 5:02 to go, before Nestor gave the hosts their first lead early on in the second quarter off the dish from Reiss.
  • After a New Paltz tally to pull the contest even at three, Morrisville spot off three straight, including second from Patriarco and Williams, with Strong also collecting his first of the day and eighth of the season to send the game into the break with a 6-3 Mustang lead.
  • Morrisville continued the push offensively, rattling off four straight in the third before New Paltz found a response, but closed out the quarter with another tally, the second from Reiss in the frame.
  • New Paltz put together a rally of their own, netting four straight to cut the Mustang lead to three with 11:41 to go in the fourth, but Morrisville continued to have patience offensively and added to their totals with Williams and Reiss collecting the hat trick with their third of the game.
  • Kistner put the final tally in the back of the cage with 16 seconds to go, sealing the win.

  • Morrisville will have one final non-conference contest before opening United East play, traveling to Potsdam on Saturday for a 1 p.m. start.
