Morrisville men net landslide win in Saturday afternoon affair

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team picked up a second straight win in opening week for the Mustangs, downing visiting SUNY Canton by a 25-6 non-conference final Saturday afternoon on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse had 11 total players contribute to the scoring Saturday afternoon as they registered a landslide 25-6 non-conference decision over visiting SUNY Canton on Drake Field in Morrisville.
  • Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) led all scorers with 12 points, collecting four goals and assisting another eight.
  • Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) added another five tallies to go along with two assists, while Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) and Luke Strong (Rochester, N.Y.) added five points apiece behind their hat tricks of three goals and two assists.
  • Savion Williams (Peekskill, N.Y. also collected the three-goal game, while Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) added two of his own.
  • Peter Pina (Culver City, Calif.), Curtis Robitaille (Endwell, N.Y.), Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.), Chris Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) and Jordan Ruscher (Henrietta, N.Y.) each added one to round out Mustang scoring.
  • Bredeson dominated the center x, winning 15-of-23 faceoffs while fellow specialist Gerald Klubek (Eden, N.Y.) collected six wins in nine attempts.
  • Bredeson and Garrett Mead (Homer, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with six ground ball pick ups as Morrisville dominated the Roos 42-27 in the battle on the turf.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) posted six saves in the win,
  • Morrisville outgunned the Roos 53-18 in shots on goal on the day, launching a single quarter high 17 during the third.
  • The hosts were also able to capitalize on Canton penalties, converting five extra man opportunities into scores.
  • After leading 4-1 one quarter in, Morrisville opened the flood gates in the second and didn't look back as they poured in seven goals for a commanding 11-2 lead at the half.
  • Morrisville picked up where they left off in the third as Reiss notched his sixth of the year a mere 27 seconds in while the Mustangs added five more to their totals to carry the 17-3 advantage into the final frame.
  • Eight different Mustangs posted goals in the final quarter, sealing the second straight win on Drake Field to start the 2022 season.

  • Morrisville will return to the field Wednesday, March 2 as they travel to SUNY Brockport for a 4 p.m. contest.
