WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

  • Wilkes took a 1-0 lead 24 ticks into the second period before a Kate Mabey (Guelph, Ont.) score evened the contest at one five minutes later.
  • Mabey notched the power play tally off the feed from Allicen Bouchard (Rockford, Ill.) and Kendra Johnston (St. Albert, Alta.).
  • Both teams struggled to find the back of the net for the remainder of the period and entered the final twenty knotted at one.
  • At the 6:57 mark of the third, Johnston put the Mustangs ahead for the first time of the night, collecting the loose puck to pick up her first score of the season, for a 2-1 Morrisville advantage.
  • Minutes later, Pippy Pritchard (Saskatoon, Sask.) gave the visitors the two goal cushion with a tally off the feed from Hailee Easson (Okotoks, Alta.) and Emily Olson (Lloydminster, Alta.), igniting a flurry of scores with the tally at the 11:165 mark.
  • Wilkes was sent to the box for a hooking penalty with just under 12 to play in the frame, and within seconds, Morrisville capitalized on their second power play opportunity with Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) notching the score, with assists coming from Johnston and Mabey.
  • A mere 26 seconds later, Morrisville extended their lead to 5-1 with a score from Allie Davidson (Niagara Falls, Ont.), securing the win and putting the game out of reach for the hosts.
