Morrisville women collect 73-63 win over Keystone

Rotchford records 100th career victory

Box Score OSWEGO, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team used a strong second quarter to topple Keystone College by a 73-63 final score in the Max Ziel Tournament hosted by SUNY Oswego Saturday; giving head coach Erin (Skaradek) Rotchford her 100th career win.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Head coach Erin (Skaradek) Rotchford collected her 100th career win Saturday afternoon as her Mustang squad topped Keystone College in the consolation round of the Max Ziel Tournament held at SUNY Oswego by a 73-63 final.
  • The win is the first for the Mustangs in 2022-23 and puts Rotchford alone at the top of NCAA wins at Morrisville in program history, while being the first to reach the 100 milestone mark for the Mustangs.
  • Four posted double-digits to lead the Mustangs, including Cara Walker (Phelps, N.Y.) and Brooke Hammersley (Weedsport, N.Y.) who collected the double-double on the day.
  • Walker paced the Mustangs with 16 points and 14 boards, adding four assists and two steals to her totals, while Hammersley added 11 points, 13 rebounds and dished out six assists while collecting three steals.
  • Taylor Colone-Microni (Oneonta, N.Y.) added 10 points alongside newcomer Anna Neufeld (Dobbs Ferry, N.Y.) who also collected three rebounds.
  • Morrisville outgained Keystone on the glass 48-32 and dominated the game from long range as they shot 40% from beyond the arc, hitting 10 three's.
  • The Mustangs carried a slim 19-18 lead into the second quarter where they overwhelmed the Giants with a 17-2 run to widen the gap to 12 at the halftime break.
  • Keystone attempted to post a comeback outscoring Morrisville 17-4 in the third, but the Mustangs edged the Giants 15-14 in the final frame to post the win.

  • Morrisville returns to the court Wednesday, hosting cross town rival SUNY Poly in a 6 p.m. tip-off on the Mustangs home court.
