Box Score HAMBURG, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team dropped the season opener to host Hilbert College at the Hawks Tip-Off Tournament by a 90-68 final score in Hamburg.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville dropped the 2022-23 season opener Friday night to host Hilbert College by a 90-68 final score in the opening round of the Hawk's Tip-Off Tournament in Hamburg.
• Michael Litchfield (St. Albans, N.Y.) led the Mustang efforts with 16 points, hitting four from beyond the arc while newcomer Shykell Brown (Rochester, N.Y.) added 15 to go along with two steals and two assists.
• Tron Smith (Brooklyn, N.Y.) posted nine alongside Jordan Coard (Jamaica, N.Y.) for the Mustangs, Smith adding four assists.
• Justin Sykes (New York, N.Y.) led the Mustangs on the glass with nine boards, also collecting two blocks, while tallying seven points on the night.
• Morrisville trailed 43-38 at the break and maintained striking distance early on, but a 9-2 run by the Hawks opened the contest to a 12-point host lead with just over 16 minutes to go.
• Back-to-back free throws by Brown at 14:15 brought the Mustangs within seven, but Hilbert took to the paint on four straight possessions to open the game to a  15 point advantage and lead they wouldn't relinquish as they collected the win.
• Morrisville was outgunned 50-.7% to 35.8 shooting across the night, while being out gained on the glass 52-38.
• Hilbert, who got a big push in scoring off the bench with 55 points, limited Morrisville to just 18 in bench play, while collecting 40 points in the paint.
