Flannery nets two in Mustangs shut out victory over Wells

AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville Men's Soccer team posted their third shut out victory of the season on Wednesday evening, defeating the Wells College Express on the road by a final score of 5-0. James Flannery (Ontario, NY) netted two goals to lead the Mustangs to victory.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustang offense came out of the gates early with Flannery posting the first score of the game in the 3rd minute of action. Joseph Buel (Raeford, NC) was credited with the assist on the goal.
  • Flannery would net his second goal of the game in the 21st minute to put Morrisville up 2-0, with the assist from Avi Tejeiro (College Point, NY).
  • Morrisville would extend their lead and take a 3-0 advantage in to halftime when Mohamed Sy (New York, NY) posted his first goal of the season in the 39th minute of play.
  • The Mustangs took a four-goal lead in the 51st minute on an own goal, coming off the foot of a Wells' player.
  • Newcomer, Brady McCarthy (Sodus, NY) rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs in the 88th minute, with an assist from freshman forward, Criss Ventura-Perez (New City, NY).
  • Morrisville outgained the Express 10-2 in shots on goal and held a 6-2 advantage in corners kicks.
  • Nicholas Beevers (Cobleskill, NY) earned the win for the Mustangs, recording two saves.

  • The Mustangs are back in action Wednesday, hosting SUNY Potsdam in a non-conference match-up at 6:00pm.
