Small’s career night leads Morrisville past Express

AURORA, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville Women's Soccer team got back in the win column on Wednesday evening, picking up a 4-0 United East conference win over the Wells College Express. Sophomore defender, Amaya Small (Hicksville, NY) scored her first collegiate goal, and then punched in a second to lead Morrisville to the victory.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Despite her position on the defensive end, Small led the Mustangs all over the pitch on Wednesday evening. The sophomore scored her first collegiate goal in the 18th minute of the first half, giving Morrisville an early lead.
  • Just over ten minutes later, Small netted her second goal of the season with an assist from senior, Tiffany Dicenzo (Rochester, NY).
  • The Mustangs third goal came in the second half when Rachel Davis (LaFargeville, NY) posted her first goal of the season, unassisted.
  • Melanie Rott (Niagara Falls, NY) rounded out the scoring for the Mustangs in the 73rd minute. Mikayla Zotta (Schenectady, NY) was credited with the assist.
  • The Mustangs controlled the play all afternoon, outshooting the Express 28-3, and holding a 7-1 advantage on corner kicks.
  • Mustang keeper, Meaghan Miller (West Irondequoit, NY) pitched a shutout, stopping all three shot attempts on goal.
WHAT'S NEXT:
  • The Mustangs take the weekend off before hitting the road to take on SUNY Delhi next Wednesday. The non-conference match-up is slated to start at 7:00pm.
