Morrisville rolls to match win over Poly

Box Score MARCY, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team dominated cross town rival SUNY Poly in non-conference action Tuesday night, claiming the 3-0 match win while limiting the Wildcats to 39 total points across the match.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville volleyball cruised to a 3-0 match win over host SUNY Poly Tuesday night, improving their record to 14-7 as they head into a second straight weekend of United East play Saturday.
  • Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) led the Mustang hitting unit with 10 kills on the night, adding a block and four digs, while teammate Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) added another nine to go along with seven digs.
  • Keelin Baker (Vestal, N.Y.) and Kathryn Dolan (Quincy, Calif.) posted nine total at the net as well, as the Mustangs collected a .313 hitting effort across the three-set match.
  • Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) put up 15 assists with freshman Samantha Mehler (Cumming, Ga.) adding another 10.
  • Kada Tillman (Orange Beach, Ala.) served up four aces alongside senior Marina Megson (Lebanon, Conn.) in the all-around team win.
  • Defensively, a trio of Mustangs registered seven digs, including Baker and Huppee along with Mary Trowbridge (Brookhaven, N.Y.).
  • Morrisville dominated from the opening set taking an early 1-0 match lead with a 25-10 decision in the first of three on the night.
  • The Mustangs threw down 13 kills to register a set best .385 hitting percentage, while limiting Poly to just three kills in the first set.
  • In the second, Morrisville pulled out the 25-20 set win to claim the 2-0 match lead, and put the game away in the third, again dominating the hitting game with a .364 effort as they collected the 25-9 set win.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville will head to Lancaster Bible College for a dual with United East opponents on Saturday. The Mustangs will meet Gallaudet at 2 p.m. in a rematch of last year's conference final, before meeting the host Chargers at 4 p.m.
