Morrisville women back on winning track, top Bard 3-1

Box Score ROCHESTER, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team rebounded from an early afternoon loss to the host RIT Tigers, claiming a 3-1 match win over Bard College in Rochester behind an all around team effort Saturday.

  • Final Score: Morrisville 3, Bard 1 (25-18, 25-21, 23-25, 25-16)

  • Records: Morrisville 11-6, Bard 5-11
 
WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting SUNY Morrisville improved to 11-6 overall Saturday afternoon as they downed Bard College by a match final 3-1.
  • Morrisville jumped out in front two sets to none before Bard claimed the third to pull within one. The Mustangs put the game away in the fourth with a convincing 25-16 set win to claim the match victory.
  • Emily Huppee (Liberty Hill, Tex.) collected 23 kills across the match, adding two blocks and eight digs to her tallies.
  • Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) registered 14 kills while posting eight digs, as teammate Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) served up five aces to go along with 25 assists.
  • Samantha Mehler (Cumming, Ga.) added 16 assists, while Ku Ku (New Hartford, N.Y.) served up three aces to go along with eight defensive digs.
  • Morrisville opened with a decisive 25-18 victory in the first set, hitting .308 as a team before edging Bard 25-21 in the second to jump out in front 2-0 in the match.
  • Bard was able to put one in the win column with back-to-back kills to claim the third 25-23, but it was all Morrisville in the fourth with a .292 hitting effort to put the match away with a 25-16 set victory.
  • Morrisville utilized the hitting ability of their front line in the set to jump out in front, before Kayla Sheasby (Hood River, Ore.) served up two straight aces to give the Mustangs the match win.
 
WHAT'S NEXT:
 
  • Morrisville returns to the court Wednesday at SUNY Oneonta in a non-conference bout with the Dragons before hosting United East tri-match action against Abington and Berks on Saturday, Oct. 8.
