WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- The visiting Bengals were the first to get on the board with an even-handed tally with just 56 seconds remaining in the first period.
- However, the Mustangs responded 23 seconds later to even the score when Curtis Abbott (Belmont, Ont.) found the back of the net with his fourth goal of the season. Trevor Grasby (Holland Landing, Ont.) and Jestin Somero (New Ipswich, N.H.) picked up the assists.
- The score remained tied 1-1 throughout the second period despite the Bengals posting 13 shots on goal to Morrisville's seven.
- In the 10th minute of play in the third period, Cameron Clark (Daytona Beach, Fla.) notched his first goal of his collegiate career to break the deadlock. Steven Ford (Dallas, Tex.) was credited with the assist.
- Unfortunately, the one goal lead was short lived as Buffalo State responded at the 12-minute mark to tie the game at 2-2.
- Neither squad was able to find the go-ahead tally in regulation and the contest went into overtime.
- The Mustangs and Bengals both worked through several three-man line changes through the first three minutes of the extra period, but neither squad could find the game winner.
- Clark would change that for the Mustangs, putting away the game winner at the 3:54 mark. Luca Esposito (Bolton, Ont.) and James Farmer-Valente (Mississauga, Ont.) picked up the assists on the decisive goal.
- Garrett Boyonoski (Sault Ste. Marie, Ont.) picked up the win in net for Morrisville, picking up 24 saves including a big stop in the overtime period.
