FREDONIA, N.Y. – The Mustangs scored first, but it was not enough as they fell 5-3 in State Universities of New York Athletic Conference (SUNYAC) play on the road at Fredonia State.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
- Trevor Neumann (Burlington, Ont.) put the Mustangs on the board early, scoring in the third minute of play to give the visitors a 1-0 lead. James Boisvert (Mansfield, Tex.) and Steven Ford (Dallas, Tex.) picked up the assists.
- Morrisville took their 1-0 lead into the second period, but the Blue Devils evened the score in the 9th minute of play.
- The Mustangs responded quickly, capitalizing on a power play opportunity.
- Chris Mott (Nesconset, N.Y.) recorded the go-ahead goal with assists going to Jake Kaplan (Bowie, Md.) and Boisvert.
- Fredonia responded just as quickly with an even strength tally to knot the score back up.
- With the score tied 2-2 headed into the third, the Blue Devils picked up two goals in the early half of the final frame to take a 4-2 lead.
- However, the Mustangs were able to cut the lead to one as Luca Esposito (Bolton, Ont.) found the back of the net. Kaplan registered his second assist of the game on the play.
- Looking to tie the contest, the Mustangs pulled their goalie, but the Blue Devils picked up an empty net goal to seal the 5-3 win.
