Morrisville women advance to defend NEAC Tournament Title

Mustangs top Mount Aloysius 25-6 in semifinal action

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse team advanced to the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) finals and will look to defend their tournament title as they topped fourth seeded Mount Aloysius College 25-6 in league action on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Top seeded SUNY Morrisville women's lacrosse is set to defend their 2019 NEAC tournament title, after defeating fourth seeded Mount Aloysius 25-6 in semifinal action Sunday afternoon.
  • The Mustangs will await the winner of the second semifinal, hosted by second seeded Lancaster Bible College. The Chargers face off against third seed Wells College in the second of the day's tournament action.
  • For a second straight meeting against the Mounties, Morrisville's offensive attack proved too much as seven different Mustangs posted tallies – including freshman Maddie Baum (Fulton, N.Y.) who rattled off 11 points behind her four goals and season high seven assists. Baum also collected seven ground balls and added four caused turnovers to her tallies on the day.
  • Aria Treadway (Rome, N.Y.) posted a collegiate high seven goals, while fellow midfielder Makenzi Santini (Fairport, N.Y.) collected seven points with her five goals and two assists.
  • Lauren McGreal (Pawling, N.Y.) added a high four goals and 11 draw control wins, also causing three turnovers, while Jaele Naab (Buffalo, N.Y.) collected the hat trick behind her three scores.
  • Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) and Kendra Johnston (St. Alberta, AB) each added a score, with McDonald collecting an assist and six draw control wins.
  • Kadi Denney (Lorraine, N.Y.) posted the win in net, making two stops, before trading time with Laura Lorraine (Hamilton, N.Y.) for the second half. Lorraine also registered two saves.
  • Morrisville dominated in all aspects of the contest, outgaining the visitors 39-11 in shots, 24-10 in ground balls, and 21-12 in draw controls. The Mustangs also put away 10-of-14 free position shots to add to their offensive game.
  • Mounties Maddie Waite opened all scoring 28 seconds in, collecting her first of three total goals on the day, unassisted, before Treadway responded for the Mustangs to kick off an 8-0 run over the next eight minutes.
  • After trading a series of two scores apiece, Morrisville closed out the first half of tournament play with another scoring spurt, adding seven more goals to claim a 16-3 lead at the break.
  • Again Mount Aloysius posted the first score of the second half, but the Mustangs widened the gap with another five goal spurt for a commanding and unrecoverable lead.
  • Morrisville outgained the Mounties 9-3 in the second half, claiming the 25-6 victory and fourth straight trip to the NEAC Tournament finals.
