Morrisville men score 17 unanswered in 21-4 win over Hilbert

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team remained unbeaten in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play Saturday, posting a 21-4 league win over visiting Hilbert College on Drake Field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse scored 17 unanswered tallies Saturday afternoon and held visiting Hilbert scoreless over three quarters of action as the Mustangs picked up a 21-4 NEAC win to remain unbeaten in league play.
  • Nine different players posted goals for the hosts, including Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) who led the way with four, adding four assists for the eight-point outing.
  • Freshman Roman Reiss (LaFayette, N.Y.) added seven points behind his four tallies and three assists, while Dante Patriarco (Cortland, N.Y.) and Alex Nowak (Cazenovia, N.Y.) each added hat tricks with their three scores.  Patriarco also recorded an assist.
  • Gerald Klubek (Eden, N.Y.) notched his first two of the season and added two assists for a four point outing, while Geoffrey Field (Glen Cove, N.Y.) added a pair of scores to the win.
  • Chris Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) collected a goal and two assists, with Garrett Mead (Homer, N.Y.) and Savion Williams (Peekskill, N.Y.) each netting their first collegiate scores.
  • Zack Mabry (Suffern, N.Y.), Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.), Connor Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) and Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) each posted an assist.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) recorded the win between the pipes, registering nine saves as the Mustangs improved to 4-1 overall, 3-0 within conference action.
  • Morrisville raced by the Hawks in shots on the afternoon, 57-23, and dominated play at the center x, winning 24-of-28 face offs. Bredeson went 19-for-22 for the Mustangs and collected a team high 13 ground balls, while Klubek was 5-for-6 with four ground ball pickups.
  • The Mustangs also dominated the ground ball game, 46-18, with Mabry adding nine pick-ups of his own while causing three turnovers.
  • Willie Burns (Cutchogue, N.Y.) also created havoc on the visitors, causing four Hawk miscues.
  • Brandon Bitka opened all scoring on the day with an unassisted tally for Hilbert minutes into the contest, before Nowak responded less than a minute later with the first Morrisville score.
  • Both teams traded goals over the next seven minutes of action, with Nestor knotting the game at four after the opening quarter.
  • It was all Morrisville from there on in the contest, as the Mustangs netted five unanswered tallies in the second to open the game to a 9-4 halftime lead.
  • Morrisville outgunned Hilbert 19-3 in the third, pouring in eight, including two within 10 seconds of each other. After a Williams tally at the 4:41 mark, Bredeson collected the face-off win and found Nestor who buried the ball ten seconds later.
  • The Mustangs didn't take their foot off the gas in the final frame, adding five more goals, including two from Klubek, earning the 21-4 win.
