Morrisville men top Delhi 9-4 in season opening win

Box Score MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Host SUNY Morrisville got four goals from freshman Roman Reiss (Lafayette, N.Y.) en route to a 9-4 win, as the Mustangs made their 2021 debut Sunday afternoon against non-conference opponent SUNY Delhi on Drake field in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host SUNY Morrisville opened with a 4-1 first quarter lead over visiting SUNY Delhi and added five more tallies across the remainder of the contest as they collected a season opening 9-4 win over SUNY Delhi Sunday.
  • Freshman Roman Reiss (Lafayette, N.Y.) rattled off four total scores in his collegiate debut, including two in the first frame.
  • Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) posted a five-point outing, netting three while assisting two others, while Chris Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) notched the final two for the Mustangs.
  • Zach Nestor (Manlius, N.Y.) dished out two assists Connor Picciott (Brewerton, N.Y.) collected his first collegiate point on an assist.
  • Dylan LaPlace (Chester, Conn.) registered the win between the pipes, posting a total 20 stops, nine in the second quarter.
  • Delhi outgained the Mustangs 32-31 in the ground ball battle, with Soren Bredeson (Eagle, Colo.) and Kyle Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) collecting a combined 11 for the hosts.
  • Farrell picked up six to lead the Mustangs, while adding three caused turnovers to his tallies on the day.
  • Delhi had three post scores, including Aidan Costello who notched two, while adding five ground balls to his efforts.
  • Dante Restaino posted the loss, making four stops in the first half before being replaced by James Sullivan in the second, who added another four to the Bronco defensive efforts.
