READING, Pa. – The SUNY Morrisville women's volleyball team took it to a decisive fifth set but couldn't sneak past St. Mary's College (MD) as they fell 3-2 in United East Conference action Saturday afternoon on the campus of Penn St. Berks in Reading, Pennsylvania.

• Visiting SUNY Morrisville volleyball charged back from a two-set deficit to force a decisive fifth set but fell short of the comeback attempt as St. Mary's collected the 3-2 United East match win over the Mustangs Saturday afternoon.
• The loss ends the Mustangs conference win streak at 31 consecutive league wins.
• Morrisville struggled to find their offensive rhythm against the Seahawks, hitting a league outing low .096 across the five-set game, while registering a mere 52 kills.
• Senior Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.) had a monster of a day for the Mustangs, keeping their offense afloat behind her 24 kills at the net while hitting a team best .265. She added three total blocks and three defensive digs to her efforts for the visitors.
• Brianna Gates (Eagle, Colo.) and Kayci Olson (Cortland, N.Y.) each registered 12 kills in the efforts for the Mustangs, combining for 24 digs, while senior libero Anna Salamino (Liverpool, N.Y.) added another 13.
• Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) recorded 33 assists.
• St. Mary's jumped out to an early opening set lead and the Mustangs stayed within striking distance until two service rallies of four-points each by the Seahawks widened the gap and resulted in a first set 25-17 lead.
• In the second both squads battled back and forth and a kill by Florio brough the Mustangs within one, but the set swung in favor of the Seahawks on a service error and sent the game into the third with a 2-0 Morrisville deficit.
• It took extra points in the third, but the Mustangs were able to pull out a set win down the stretch to get one on the board and force another in the league showdown.
• A kill from Gates tied the contest at 25, and after a Seahawks go ahead tally, another tied it again at 26 before Salamino served up two straight aces to collect the 28-26 set win.
• The fourth proved to be one of four-point runs, with each team maintaining striking distance of the other, but it was Morrisville who was able to force a fifth with a 25-22 set win.
• The Mustangs held on to the narrow lead over St. Mary's after three straight points by the home squad cut the lead to one, but two straight kills by Gates at the net were the difference and forced the decisive fifth and final frame.
• In the fifth, St. Mary's jumped out to a 10-2 lead, and despite a furious effort by the Mustangs to post the comeback, were able to hold on for the match win and hand Morrisville their first loss since the 2017 season in league play.

• Morrisville plays their second of the weekend against the hosts, Penn St. Berks, and will look to get back on track in the 3 p.m. match.
