Morrisville drops season opener on the road at Geneseo

GENESEO, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team opened the 2020 season Tuesday afternoon with a road loss to host SUNY Geneseo, by a final 17-2 score in Geneseo.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team dropped their season opener Tuesday afternoon as they fell behind early and couldn't recover in a 17-2 loss to SUNY Geneseo on the road in Geneseo.
  • Geneseo rattled off the first seven scores of the afternoon in the opening nine minutes of the contest, before Morrisville was able to get on the board with an unassisted tally from Chad Warren (Lafayette, N.Y.) at the 3:50 mark.
  • Senior Joe Rosaschi (Syracuse, N.Y.) was the lone other Mustang to post a goal on the day, netting the unassisted score with 12:53 to go in the second quarter.
  • Geneseo collected an 11-2 lead at the break before adding six more scores in the second half of action, including five in the third quarter.
  • Geneseo outgunned Morrisville 43-18 in shots, and limited the Mustangs to 21 ground balls on the day, while collecting 37 of their own.
  • Paul Tocci (Riverhead, N.Y.) and Kyle Farrell (Holtsville, N.Y.) led the defensive efforts with three caused turnovers each in front of Brady Ryan (Camillus, N.Y.) who collected the loss with his 13 save effort between the pipes.

  • Morrisville opens the home slate on Saturday, hosting Oswego in a non-league match on Drake Field in Morrisville. The opening face-off is scheduled for 12 p.m.
