Morrisville men drop to 0-3 with non-league loss to Cortland

CORTLAND, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse team fell to 0-3 Tuesday afternoon as host SUNY Cortland rattled off 17 straight scores to down the visiting Mustangs 23-2 in non-league action in Cortland.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host Cortland scored 10 unanswered goals in the second quarter and added another 10 in the second half of action combined as they downed visiting SUNY Morrisville men's lacrosse 23-2 in non-league action in Cortland Tuesday afternoon.
  • Playing to a scoreless opening 10 minutes, Evan Kistner (Fulton, N.Y.) put the Mustangs on the board first, notching his third tally of the season off the dish from Peter Pina (Culver City, Calif.) with 4:37 to go.
  • That lead was short lived, however, as the hosts closed out the opening frame with three tallies, and collected 10 unanswered goals in the second to race out to a commanding 13-1 lead at the break.
  • Pina collected his second assist at the 5:11 mark of the third, breaking the scoring drought for the visitors, as Geoffrey Field (Glen Cove, N.Y.) collected his first of the season.
  • Cortland went on to add six additional goals to their already decisive lead, posting the 23-2 victory.
  • Brady Ryan (Camillus, N.Y.) collected the loss between the pipes for the Mustangs, allowing all 23 scores, while stopping 13 in 56 minutes of action.
  • Pasquale Kourakos (Harrison, N.Y.) appeared for the final four minutes, recording no saves.
  • Gerald Klubek (Eden, N.Y.) won nine at the center x for the 'Stangs, five in the second quarter, and paced the squad with five ground balls.
  • Fourteen different players registered goals for the Red Dragons, with goalkeeper Marc Esposito collecting the win with his 30 minute, five save effort.
