Morrisville women tame Lions, post win over Abington

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville women's basketball team put together a 30-point fourth quarter to get past visiting Penn St. Abington Friday evening in Morrisville in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) action by a final 92-84 score.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Morrisville women picked up their second straight victory Friday evening as they topped visiting Penn St. Abington by a final 92-84 score on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville, behind a 30-point fourth quarter.
  • The Mustangs entered the quarter leading by a slim three-point margin before Abington tied the contest at 62 seconds in.
  • Morrisville used an 11-2 run to extend the margin to 10 midway through the quarter, and withstood a late Abington rally to collect the victory.
  • Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) led all scorers with 26 on the night, adding five rebounds, while teammate Alexis Campbell (Buffalo, N.Y.) chipped in another 24 as she hit a perfect 11-of-11 from the free throw line.
  • Campbell also dished out a team high six assists, while freshman Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) added 15 points.
  • Taylor Colone-Microni (Oneonta, N.Y.) posted three from long range en route to a total 16-point effort off the bench for the Mustangs, also adding three assists while collecting a team high five steals.
  • Morrisville forced 23 Nittany Lion turnovers, converting them into 32 points on the offensive end of the court.

  • Morrisville will return to the court on Saturday, hosting Penn St. Harrisburg to wrap up the regular season. Tip-off is scheduled for 3 p.m.
