Abington stuns Morrisville men, post overtime win

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Visiting Penn State Abington used their up-tempo pace Friday evening and hit the boards hard as they outplayed host SUNY Morrisville to collect a 71-69 overtime victory on the Mustangs home court in Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • SUNY Morrisville men's basketball was stunned Friday evening as they fell to visiting Penn St. Abington by a final 71-69 overtime score on their home court in Morrisville.
  • Abington battled back from a six-point deficit at the half to challenge the Mustangs throughout the second, hitting the game-tying score to force the overtime period as time expired.
  • Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 25 points, snagging 20 rebounds, 11 on the offensive glass, while fellow senior Jaylin Montalvo (Hempstead, N.Y.) added 12 points to go along with seven rebounds.
  • Rahmell Smith (Syracuse, N.Y.) added 10 points off the bench for the Mustangs.
  • Morrisville used a 48.3% shooting effort in the opening half to lead 41-35 at the break, but struggled offensively in the second, hitting just 31% from the floor, and went 0-for-5 in the overtime period as they dropped the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) contest.
