Morrisville men power way past Delhi as Miller nets 1,000th collegiate point

DELHI, N.Y. – The SUNY Morrisville men's basketball team opened 2020 with a 78-67 victory over non-league host SUNY Delhi Thursday afternoon, as senior guard Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) hit his 1,000th collegiate point, becoming the seventh player in Mustang history to reach the milestone mark.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • The Morrisville men's basketball team had four notch double digits Thursday afternoon as they topped host SUNY Delhi by a 78-67 final score in non-conference action in Delhi.
  • Senior Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) led the Mustangs with 21 points, notching the double-double as he powered his way to 10 rebounds.
  • Senior guard Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) also collected double figures, adding 19 to the win, becoming just the seventh player in Mustang history to reach the 1,000-point mark as he buried a three-ball from the left-wing midway through the second half of action, Miller also added four assists and six rebounds in the win.
  • Ishmael Chisholm (Poughkeepsie, N.Y.) and Jaylin Montalvo (Hempstead, N.Y.) each chipped in 13 points, while collecting a combined 11 rebounds and four steals.
  • Morrisville dominated the paint, outscoring Delhi 34-24 and took advantage of 14 Bronco miscues as they converted them into 15 points.
  • Leading 38-31 at the break, Morrisville maintained a single digit lead through the opening three minutes of the contest before utilizing back-to-back buckets to increase their lead to 10 just four minutes in.
  • Delhi battled back within six, but Morrisville again converted back-to-back scores and increased their lead to 11 with a left-wing jumper from beyond the arc by Miller, his 1,000th collegiate point.
  • Morrisville maintained the double-digit lead for the remainder of the contest, leading by as many as 14 en route to the win.

  • Morrisville will return to the court on Saturday, January 11, traveling to Penn St. Berks to resume North Eastern Athletic Conference action.
