Boisvert Notches Game Winner in Comeback OT Win

WILKES BARRE, Pa. – The Morrisville Men's Ice Hockey team hit the ice for the first time in 2020 with a non-conference road contest against the Monarchs from King's College.  Despite falling behind in the first, the Mustangs rallied back to capture a 2-1 overtime win.

THE BASICS

  • Final Score: Morrisville 2, King's 1 (By period:  Morrisville 0-1-0-1, King's 1-0-0-0)
  • Location: Wilkes Barre, Pa.
  • Records: Morrisville (7-6-0 Overall), King's (1-10-0 Overall)

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • The Mustangs controlled the puck throughout the contest, outshooting the Monarchs 49-20, but it was the host squad that got on the board first at the 6:42 mark in the first period.
  • Morrisville continued to pound the net, but it wasn't until 13 minutes into the second period when the Mustangs got their break.  Austin Roy (Lewistown, Me.) notched his first goal of the season off of an assist from Kyle Wadden (Des Moines, Iowa).
  • Unfortunately, despite posting 17 shots on goal in the third, the King's goal tender stepped up against the Mustangs' attack to push the game to overtime.
  • James Boisvert (Mansfield, Tex.) secured the overtime victory for the Mustangs at the 3:26 mark in the extra frame.  Jestin Somero (New Ipswich, N.H.) picked up the assist on the game winner.
  • Jared Young (Pueblo West, Colo.) improved to 7-4 on the season, recording 29 saves.
