Freshmen propel Morrisville women to 75-55 win over Cobleskill

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – SUNY Morrisville women's basketball rolled to a 75-55 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) win Saturday afternoon over visiting SUNY Cobleskill, as three freshmen collected double-figures to lead the way.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • For a second straight game freshmen paced Morrisville women's basketball in a 75-55 league victory, as they topped Cobleskill on the Mustangs home court in a Saturday afternoon battle in Morrisville.
  • Four scored double figures for the Mustangs, including three freshmen who collected 51 of the team's 75 total points on the day.
  • Taylor Colone-Microni (Oneonta, N.Y.) led the way with 18, hitting 4-of-5 from beyond the arc, while adding three rebounds and three assists to her tallies.
  • Rachel Vieira (Caruthers, Calif.) added 17, recording a total seven steals and three assists to contribute to the win.
  • Shardae Cooper (Rochester, N.Y.) posted a collegiate best in the victory, netting 16, hitting 6-for-6 from the free throw line.
  • Tori Rockefeller (South Kortright, N.Y.) rounded out the leaderboard with 10 points, while Brooke Hammersley (Weedsport, N.Y.) posted a team best eight rebounds.
  • Morrisville got behind 9-1 midway through the opening quarter until a layup from Vieira ignited an 11-2 Mustang run, turning the tables as the hosts went on to outgain Cobleskill 13-0 over the final four minutes of the quarter.
  • The hosts maintained their distance in the second and third quarts and pulled away in the fourth behind a 10-0 offensive spurt, leading to a 20-point conference win.
