UTICA, NY – In their first road contest of the season, the Morrisville State men's soccer team pulled off their first victory on the year, defeating the Pioneers of Utica College 2-1 in overtime. With the win, the Mustangs hand the Pioneers their first loss of the season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
- Utica College got things started, notching the opening goal 27' in to the first half; Adnan Bakalovic gathered a rebound off of a free kick, finding the back of the net. Morrisville was unable to respond in the first 45' of play as the Pioneers took the 1-0 lead heading into halftime.
- After 62' minutes of scoreless play for the visitors, the Mustangs finally got on the scoreboard at the 62:24 mark. Sophomore forward, Teo Chavez (Bronx, NY) ripped a straight away shot from five yards out to even the score at 1-1. He was assisted by newcomer, Ralph Andre (Baldwin, NY) on the play.
- Neither team capitalized on the offensive end of play in regulation, sending the game into overtime. In his debut for the Mustangs, Andre scored the game winner just under 5' in to the overtime period on a redirect off of a free kick. The assist was credited to freshman defender, Ehdah Ler (Ithaca, NY), his first on the season.
- Morrisville State walked away with the victory despite losing the battle in total shots, 8-16, and in corner kicks, 9-1 to the Pioneers.
- Freshman goalkeeper, Tyler Card (McGraw, NY) earned his first win of his young career, posting five saves in all 95' in net for the Mustangs.

- Morrisville State will take on SUNY New Paltz tomorrow afternoon at 2:30pm in the second round of the Utica College Invitational. The game will be played at the Utica College Soccer Field, located on the Utica College campus.
