Second half goal sinks Morrisville women in 1-0 battle at Keuka

KEUKA PARK, N.Y. – Host Keuka College women's soccer collected the lone tally of the contest in the second half, claiming a 1-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over visiting Morrisville State Saturday afternoon in Keuka Park.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Host Keuka College remained unbeaten in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play Saturday afternoon as they posted a 1-0 victory over visiting Morrisville State in Keuka Park.
  • Vera Freda broke through the Mustang defense in the 56th minute of action, collecting the loose ball in the box off a corner kick, and knocking home the eventual winner off the Abby Richards dish.
  • Meaghan Miller (West Irondequoit, N.Y.) posted 10 stops in the defensive efforts in net, including back-to-back point blank saves in the 74th minute on a 3-on-1 break. Her second on the effort was a kick save at the right post off the rebound shot attempt.
  • Miller again made a big stop for the Mustangs in the 87th minute, making a diving save to the right post on a cross to a wide open Keuka attacker.
  • Morrisville State, though, was unable to convert on the offensive end of the field, as they were limited to just one shot in the contest.

  • Morrisville State will travel to nearby Hamilton College on Tuesday, playing a 4 p.m. non-conference match against the Continentals.
