Morrisville State men drop 3-1 contest to Cobleskill

MORRISVILLE, NY – The Morrisville State men's soccer team fell to the visiting Cobleskill Tigers on Saturday afternoon by a score of 3-1 in the North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) match up. The Mustangs fall to 2-5-1 on the season, while Cobleskill is now 4-3-1 on the year.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Cobleskill was led by senior midfielder, Mame Amar who logged two goals and an assist for the visiting Fighting Tigers. Amar's first goal came in the 16' of play on a penalty kick after Morrisville committed a foul in the box.
  • The Fighting Tigers continued the offensive attack in the first half when Chris Gardener collected a cross from Amar in the box, putting the ball away to the right side to take the 2-0 lead into halftime.
  • Morrisville's lone goal came in the 53' of action. Chandley Elie (Baldwin, NY) headed the ball to left lower corner of the goal to cut the visitor lead to one. William Lynch (Island Trees, NY) was credited with the assist on the play.
  • With less than five minutes to play, Elie had another great opportunity on goal, ripping a shot from fifteen yards out, but he was robbed by Cobleskill's Rashawn Best, who made a diving save on the play.
  • Cobleskill added one more insurance goal with 2:56 left to play in the contest. Mustang's goalkeeper, Tyler Card (McGraw, NY) exploded out of goal but slipped, leaving an open net for Amar, tailing his second goal of the game.
  • Card recorded seven saves in goal for the Mustangs.

  • Morrisville State continues their home slate with North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play this Tuesday when they host Cazenovia at 4:00pm.
