Men’s Soccer blanked by Buffalo State

BUFFALO, NY – The Morrisville State men's soccer team dropped to 1-4 on the season after falling to Buffalo State on Wednesday afternoon by a final score of 9-0. The Bengals remain undefeated on the year, posting their fifth win in a row and fourth shutout of the season.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Theo Pencic put the Bengals on the scoreboard with his first goal of the afternoon in the 15' of play of the first half. The Mustang defense would go on to hold the Bengals scoreless for the next eighteen minutes of action before Buffalo State would strike again, as Zak Shaibi increased the Bengal lead to two.
  • Anthony Roncone would add another score for Buffalo State before heading into halftime, with the hosts leading the Mustangs 3-0 at half.
  • The Bengals would go on to score six additional goals in the second half, cruising to a 9-0 non-conference win.
  • Buffalo State saw six different players in the scoring column on the afternoon. Pencic led the Bengals with his third hat trick in five games, scoring three goals and adding two assists in the win.
  • The Mustangs held a 3-2 advantage in corner kicks, but were outshot 31-3 in the loss, with only one shot on goal.
  • Freshman goalkeeper, Tyler Card (McGraw, NY) tallied six saves in the net for the Mustangs in all 90' of action.

Morrisville State is back on the road this weekend, opening up North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play on Saturday afternoon at Wells College. The game is slated to start at 1:00pm.
