Giuttari's hat trick leads Hamilton to 5-1 win over Morrisville women

MORRISVILLE, N.Y. – Michaela Giuttari notched three goals Friday afternoon, as she led visiting Hamilton College women's hockey to a 5-1 non-league win over host SUNY Morrisville.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Visiting Hamilton College rallied for two goals in each the second and third periods, fueled by three scores from Michaela Giuttari, to top the host Morrisville Mustangs by a 5-1 non-league final in Morrisville.
  • Morrisville's lone score came from Madalyn Box (Troy, Mich.) nearly four minutes into the contest as she tipped in the initial shot from Alana McDonald (Potsdam, N.Y.) for a 1-0 host lead.
  • Morrisville maintained the one goal advantage until the 19:02 mark of the first period when Hamilton's Giuttari scored her first of three on the night to send the contest into the first intermission knotted at one. Missy Segall was credited with the assist.
  • Just over one minute into the second, Giuttari struck again, giving Hamilton the 2-1 advantage, before another at the 13:42 mark from Segall extended the lead to two on the power play.
  • Giuttari and Segall added to the visitor scoring with two additional unanswered tallies in the third, putting the game out of reach as Hamilton collected the 5-1 win.
  • Sissy Harman (Eden, N.Y.) recorded the loss in net, turning away a total 37 for the Mustangs in the defensive efforts, registering double digits in each period of action.
  • Sammy Johnson collected 16 stops in the win for Hamilton, improving to 3-3 overall.
