Morrisville men back in win column defeat Wesley, 79-61

HARRISON, N.Y. – The Morrisville men's basketball team got back to the win column Saturday afternoon, as they topped Wesley College 79-61 in the consolation round of the Manhattanville Tip-Off Tournament held in Harrison.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Morrisville men's basketball rebounded from yesterday's set back against Trinity, claiming third place at the Manhattanville Tip-Off Tournament with their 79-61 defeat of Wesley in the consolation round Saturday afternoon in Harrison.
  • Tyrin Miller (White Plains, N.Y.) had a stellar outing for the Mustangs, leading all scorers with 30 points as he shot 13-for-22 from the floor, while dishing out three assists and collecting a steal.
  • Forward Kevin Dennis (Bronx, N.Y.) added 19 points, snagging the double-double with 13 rebounds. Dennis also added three assists, three blocks and two steals to his tallies, earning recognition with All-Tournament team honors.
  • Justin Mitchell (Newburgh, N.Y.) contributed a team high seven assists.
  • Brian Cameron paced Wesley with 18 points with fellow teammate Greg Bloodswoth adding 17, to go along with three steals and three assists.
  • Morrisville clung to a 37-31 lead at the break before shooting nearly 56% from the floor in the second half to outgun Wesley 42-30 in the frame.
  • A layup early on brought the Wolverines within four, but back-to-back buckets by the Mustangs led to a 12-2 run and increased Morrisville's lead to double digits five minutes in to the second.
  • Wesley was able to cut it to four midway through, and again the Mustangs put together a quality offensive attack, expanding their lead to 17 with a 17-6 run over the next eight minutes of play.
  • Wesley was able to add four final points over the final two minutes of play, but the deficit was too much to overcome and Morrisville added another seven down the stretch to seal the 18-point win.
  • Morrisville shot 47.9% across the contest, collecting 42 points in the paint and another 26 off Wesley turnovers.
