Volleyball Captures 20th Win, Down Bears 3-1

SARATOGA SPRINGS, N.Y. – The Morrisville State Women's Volleyball team picked up their 20th win of the season on Friday night, defeating the Bears from SUNY Potsdam 3-1 at the Skidmore Invitational.  The win marks the fourth straight season that the Mustangs have topped the 20-win mark.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW
  • Morrisville cruised through the first two sets, topping the Bears 25-14 and 25-15 respectively.
  • The Mustangs were tripped up in the third set, falling 23-25, but turned things back around in the fourth set, winning in convincing fashion 25-13 to take the 3-1 match victory.
  • Three Mustangs reached double digit kills in the match, led by Megyan Merrill (Millport, N.Y.) with 17.  Amelia Baratier (Liverpool, N.Y.) followed close behind with 15, while Kirsten Florio (Wellsboro, Pa.) added 11.
  • Siobhan Moore (Leyden, Mass.) collected 42 assists while orchestrating the offensive attack.
  • Florio also followed up her stellar serving performance from the Mustangs' last match, picking up another three aces.  Sam Wolf (Liverpool, N.Y.) also picked up three digs of her own.
  • Defensively, Baratier led the way, collecting 17 digs while Anna Salamino (Liverpool, N.Y.), Merrill, and Wolf each added 13.

  • The Mustangs continue their Skidmore Invite slate on Saturday, squaring off with SUNY New Paltz at 12 PM and Plattsburgh State at 2 PM.
