Morrisville State falls on the road at SUNY Poly

UTICA, NY – The Morrisville State women's soccer team fell on the road to the SUNY Poly Wildcats on Saturday afternoon by a final score of 2-1. A late Wildcat goal in the second overtime period was not enough for the Mustangs, who drop to 4-7 overall and 2-3 in North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Junior forward, Shay Franklin (North Norwich, NY) put the Mustangs on the scoreboard early in the contest, tailing her fourth goal of the season 1:49 into the first half. She was assisted by Angelina Rinaldi (Huntington Station, NY) on the play.
  • SUNY Poly's Shannon Harrison notched both the tying goal and the winning goal for the Wildcats. Her first goal came in the 50' of action in the second half, unassisted.
  • Both teams played neck and neck throughout the first ten minutes of overtime. Harrison's game-winning score came in the 103' of play during the final overtime period, also unassisted.
  • The Wildcats held the advantage in shots, 19-13, while the Mustangs took the advantage in corner kicks, 3-1.
  • Marissa Curtis (Manlius, NY) played all 103' in goal for Morrisville State, recording four saves in the loss.

  • Women's Soccer returns to action this Saturday, resuming North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) play when they host Penn St.-Harrisburg at 1:00pm.
