Morrisville field hockey powers past Wells behind Hanehan's 11-point game

AURORA, N.Y. – Sophomore forward Grace Hanehan (Saratoga Springs, N.Y.) scored four times, and assisted another three as visiting Morrisville State field hockey powered past Wells College by a 8-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) final score Sunday afternoon in Aurora.

WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW:
  • Junior Heather Cummings (Akron, N.Y.) ignited the Morrisville State field hockey offense Sunday afternoon with her early tally just four minutes into the game, as the Mustangs posted a dominating 8-0 North Eastern Athletic Conference (NEAC) victory over host Wells.
  • Morrisville jumped out to a 2-0 first quarter lead at the 11:25 mark with an unassisted tally from fellow forward Hanehan, who assisted Cummings first tally, before the duo added a third Mustang score at 18:37 for the 3-0 advantage.
  • Cummings again slapped home the assist from Hanehan.
  • It was all the Mustangs in the third quarter, as Hanehan posted three straight tallies, two within a span of two minutes time, extending the lead to 6-0, before freshman Erica Sciallo (East Islip, N.Y.) tipped in another Morrisville tally as time expired in the quarter.
  • Junior defender Mary Klecha (Greene, N.Y.) collected her first of the season at 57:21, the final Mustang tally, driving in the corner shot for the 8-0 Morrisville win.
  • Morrisville outgained the Express 34-3 in shots on the day, as sophomore goalkeeper Morgan Dueber (Owego, N.Y.) picked up the shut-out victory with her two stops.
  • The Mustangs also held the 15-1 advantage in penalty corners.
